Job Responsibility: Patient Transporter
Position Overview: As a Patient Transporter at Community Medical Transportation, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and comfortable transportation of our clients to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare facilities. You are entrusted with providing reliable and compassionate assistance to individuals with varying mobility needs, including those utilizing wheelchairs and mobility aids. Your dedication to professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional customer service contribute significantly to the overall quality of care we deliver to our clients.
· Full-Time (30-40 hours)
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Inspection:
- Conduct thorough pre-shift inspections of assigned vehicles to ensure they are in optimal condition for safe operation.
- Check vehicle fluids, tire pressure, lights, signals, and other essential components according to company protocols.
- Report any maintenance issues or concerns promptly to the Transportation Manager for resolution.
- Patient Assistance:
- Assist patients in boarding and disembarking from the vehicle safely and comfortably, utilizing proper lifting and transfer techniques.
- Provide courteous and respectful assistance to patients with mobility challenges, including those requiring assistance with wheelchairs, walkers, or other aids.
- Ensure patients are securely fastened and positioned correctly within the vehicle for the duration of the journey.
- Professionalism and Communication:
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, coordinators, and other team members to confirm trip details, report delays or issues, and coordinate schedules efficiently.
- Act as a representative of Community Medical Transportation, upholding our values of integrity, empathy, and reliability at all times.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure the welfare of both patients and staff.
- Exercise caution and defensive driving techniques while operating company vehicles, prioritizing the safety of passengers and other road users.
- Maintain a clean driving record and valid driver's license, complying with all applicable state and federal passenger transportation regulations.
- Trip Preparation and Flexibility:
- Review assigned trip schedules provided the evening before shifts, typically around 7 PM, and plan routes accordingly.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to accommodate changes in scheduling, last-minute additions, or unforeseen circumstances, prioritizing patient needs above all else.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in adhering to scheduled pick-up and drop-off times, minimizing patient wait times, and ensuring timely arrival at medical appointments.
Device Usage for Dispatching:
- Drivers must use their own device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, etc.) for dispatching purposes.
- Ensure your device is fully charged and functional before each shift.
- Familiarize yourself with the dispatching application (e.g., RouteGenie) used by Community Medical Transportation and maintain proficiency in its usage.
- Responsibly handle and protect your device to ensure uninterrupted communication and coordination with dispatchers and team members throughout your shift.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and maneuver patients in wheelchairs and other mobility aids, including those weighing 200+ lbs., with proper lifting techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings as required by company policy and regulatory standards.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
