Mildred Elley, a private multi-campus institution, is seeking a Professor to join the General Studies Department at its New York City Metro campus. Under the joint direction and supervision of the Department Chair and the Executive Director of Academic Support and Professionalism, the Professor will be responsible for teaching a minimum of 2 General Studies classes per 8-week module. In addition to their role as a full-time faculty member, they must have an earned terminal degree in Psychology or Social Work to effectively manage and provide support services to a diverse student body.
The focus of the position will be soft skills, academics, personal counseling, and off-campus referrals. The Professor will recruit, manage, and evaluate 3-4 master of social work interns annually, ensuring that a schedule is posted for drop-in counseling hours. The Professor will meet with referred and walk in students and administer individual and group sessions on a regular basis. The position will serve as expert practitioner on mental health, student development, and referral services for the Metro Campus.
Responsibilities:
Faculty:
· Teach undergraduate courses, as assigned by the administration of the institution, achieving educational objectives in a manner set by the administration and faculty of the institution.
· Evaluate and grade students' class work, performances, projects, assignments, and papers.
· Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate students on topics within the approved course descriptions and syllabi.
· Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues.
· Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
· Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
· Explain and demonstrate theory, techniques, and/or software within the catalog course description.
· Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
· Participate in curriculum development and revision.
· Complete at least a minimum required number of In-Service seminars.
· Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students, as assigned by the administration of the institution.
Counseling Services Coordinator:
· Recruits, mentors, and evaluates a team of up to 12 LMSW interns.
· Schedules, administers, and facilitates soft skills and academic programming.
· Counsels students on non-academic and academic issues.
· Oversees effective institutional advising and life coaching programs.
· Maintains current sources of support (shelters, legal assistance, domestic violence help, childcare, etc.), disseminates the information to students, and refer students.
· Plans, assesses, and reports on goals and outcomes.
· Collaborate with stakeholders across campus including the Dean of Students, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Campus President.
· Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Terminal earned degree, PhD in Psychology, PsyD in Psychology or LCSW with a NY State Licensure.
· Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification, and 18 credits in Psychology to teach.
· Minimum three years post-master’s experience.
· Proficiency in keyboarding, Microsoft Office Suite, and desktop publishing.
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
· Detail oriented, flexible, and a collegial person.

Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 depending on experience.
