JOB TITLE: ALSA STAFF RN
REPORTS TO: ALSA DIRECTOR
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: HOURLY
General Description:
Provide nursing care according to physician’s orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Demonstrates the ability to perform 120 Day Recertifications or Reassessments as needed.
2. Demonstrates the ability to administer medications, narcotics, and treatments (sterile dressing, clean dressing, proper surgical technique) including proper documentation.
3. Demonstrates the ability to execute doctors and pharmacy orders.
4. Demonstrates knowledge of the admission process and documentation to include initial nursing assessment and care planning process.
5. Recognizes resident change of condition and initiates proper intervention.
6. Knowledgeable of Residents Rights and facility Abuse Policies and Procedures.
7. Performs other job related duties or responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed by the ALSA Director.
8. Perform and rotate on-call responsibilities if needed, also rotating weekends and holidays.
9. Assists with introductory and annual evaluations of CNA staff.
10. Ensures the evaluation of clinical competence of Assisted Living Aides with check points every 120 days and as needed.
11. Will act as designee in absence of Director of ALSA.
12. Assists with Orientation of and supervises new CNA staff and nurses.
13. Follows up with MD's for any changes in residents condition, makes necessary appointments if needed.
14. Communicates professionally and efficiently with families.
Entry Level Qualifications:
1. Graduate of accredited School of Nursing.
2. Current registration in the State of Connecticut.
3. Must have tolerance and compassion for the geriatric population.
4. Must be a team leader and a team player. Able to work with others.
5. Must be knowledgeable of infection control policies and procedures and universal precautions.
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Extremely heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.).
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
- Lifts, positions, pushes, transfers residents.
- Manual dexterity and mobility.
- Intermittent exertion when performing care.
- Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
- Ability to adjust vision to bring objects to focus
