ChristianaCare is currently seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to work 20 hours per week for our pediatric practice located in Dover, DE.
Dover Pediatrics includes a team of two providers, three Medical Assistants, and one Office Assistant.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-3:00 PM
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides lunchtime relief for the Medical Assistant team to include rooming patients as needed.

Supports the VFC (Vaccines for Children) program, which includes a yearly test and ongoing management for compliance.

Demonstrates knowledge & skills necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric and adolescent patients.

Participates in a relationship-based care approach to care delivery

Triages walk-in patients and ensures appropriate disposition
-
Answers and responds to telephone messages under the direction of the provider

Assists providers in examinations or procedures, provides injections for vaccinations, and blood pressure checks, and obtains medication authorizations.

Functions as a liaison between patients, physicians, and staff to provide accurate communication

Collaborates with team members to provide a smooth, organized, and efficient flow of patients

Respond to patient crisis situations

Assures adequate coverage within the unit when needed

Provides patient education and wellness counseling

Performs medication history
-
Supports the work of LPN and/or MA
-
Assists with staff education and evaluation of clinical competencies for new and existing employees (MA & LPN)
-
Assists with the orientation of new personnel to ensure that they are properly trained to support patients and providers.

Performs chart audits or has designee assist with chart audits
-
Randomly shadows clinical support staff to ensure appropriate care is provided

Supports the site by acting as the liaison for JCAHO, POCT, Tracer monitor for Safe Practice Behavior Monitoring (SPBM) tools & JCAHO Tracers

Administration of medications, monitoring of vital signs, and performing routine treatments and procedures prescribed by the physician when needed.

Keeps current with policies and procedures and participates in quality improvement activities.

Participates in special projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A graduate of a state-approved or National League of Nursing accredited School of Nursing

RN license or eligible for licensure in the state of Delaware

Two years experience as an RN, physician office experience preferred

BSN preferred; ADN considered with the agreement of completion of BSN in 3 years
