Job Description:
The lead carpenter will be responsible for the onsite, day-to-day hands-on field labor as well as aiding in the management of the project. The lead carpenter will be the main point of contact for subcontractors, to receive deliveries or purchased materials, to schedule and manage inspections, and to be a point of contact for clients. You must read and implement architectural and design plans and a construction schedule. You will make decisions on the spot and can answer questions from subcontractors. The lead carpenter should have the communication and management skills to provide leadership to the team. You will be responsible for one primary project at a time and will be expected to be on-site every day. You will attend weekly on-site project design/development meetings. You will maintain a project budget from the production manager by maintaining a project schedule.
The Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate for S.L. Mario Construction would be someone with 6-10 years of residential remodeling experience and leadership abilities to be the on-site point of contact. You like to work with others and want to be a team leader. You like to learn and will take the initiative to research and understand new methods and materials. You hold yourself and others to a high standard. You are flexible and can develop creative solutions quickly and thoughtfully. Must have an active unrestricted MA CSL license.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the production of the project to include preforming all field labor (from staging & mobilization, daily site cleaning to finish carpentry), ordering, receiving or picking up material, scheduling subs & inspections to ensuring project milestones and dates are met in collaboration with the Production Manager.
2. Provide support for construction efforts including reading blueprints or plans, identifications, and resolutions of problems with personnel and subcontractors to resolve problems and ensure a high quality of construction.
3. Review project documents and/or requirements to confirm the contract scope is maintained. Ensure subcontractors have adequate information to supply required material, labor, and equipment to complete required scope of work within scheduled time duration.
4. Be present & engaged in the weekly project sync meeting with the Production Manager, Design Professional and Client(s).
Job Requirements:
You must have a set of hand and power tools to bring to the site every day.
You must have reliable transportation daily.
You must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work 40 hours a week, on-site.
Must have and maintain an active unrestricted MA CSL license.
Able to work in the United States.
