Currently searching for a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Davenport production facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling all aspects of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineering function, such as design, construction, and installation of equipment modifications. They will analyze and recommend preventive maintenance replacement programs, provide analysis engineering and drive the continuous improvement of the plant.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a mechanical domain expert for equipment in various areas of the recycle and remelt processes, including the cold end, hot end, and casting areas.

Provide innovative ideas and engineering support for JTA projects focused on recycle equipment.

Provide support to the plant with regards to recycle equipment for day to day troubleshooting and for larger capital projects.

Use CAD software for design support and equipment improvements.

Work with external suppliers on the design and testing of equipment.

Maintain patent reviews / invention records / patent applications during initial product design work. Participate in projects that generate IP.

Responsible for the quality of assignments with moderate scope and complexity involving application of standard scientific practices, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.

Propose, justify, and lead moderately complex projects for a site or segments of larger projects with regional or global impact. Work cohesively with teams of other specialists to implement project objectives.

Manage and coordinate schedules for clear communications with project team and project collaborators.

Plan for resources and expenditures that impact project timelines.

Deliver data, reports, and communication to project team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience, or equivalent experience.

Strong understanding of aluminum recycling process and equipment.

High level experience or equivalent experience with Solid works design software.

Intermediate experience with drafting techniques.

Uses sound engineering and time management skills to accomplish a wide variety of technical tasks on the plant level, some regional teamwork will be required.

Considers fundamental aspects in problem solving (e.g., economics, operating, maintenance and technical) in area of responsibility.

Able to effectively present technical information to peers or superiors in the technical community.

Proven track record to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams and work in a matrix environment.
