Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate AP World History Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of world history, excellent teaching skills, and a commitment to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. This position involves teaching AP World History to high school students, preparing them for the AP exam, and inspiring a love of history.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Plan, develop, and deliver comprehensive and engaging lesson plans that align with the AP World History curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Incorporate primary and secondary sources, multimedia resources, and interactive activities to enhance student learning.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and administer assessments, including quizzes, tests, essays, and projects, to evaluate student understanding and progress.
- Provide constructive feedback on assignments and exams to help students improve their skills and knowledge.
- Prepare students for the AP World History exam by conducting practice exams and review sessions.
- Classroom Management:
- Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment that promotes respect, discipline, and academic excellence.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Student Support and Engagement:
- Offer additional support to students through one-on-one meetings, tutoring sessions, and office hours.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in class discussions and activities.
- Foster a passion for history and lifelong learning.
- Professional Development:
- Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of world history and AP curriculum changes.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and professional development sessions to enhance teaching skills and content knowledge.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success and the overall mission of the school.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience teaching high school history, preferably AP World History.
- Strong knowledge of the AP World History curriculum and exam requirements.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
