Job Description: This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program for the academic school year in a faith-based, driven classroom that encompasses a whole-child development approach. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Spiritual Qualifications:
- It is required that a teacher know and proclaim Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
- Believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God.
- Believe and support the church’s statement of faith.
- Demonstrate and pursue spiritual growth.
- Be an active member of a Bible-believing church.
Planning:
- Designing lessons from our selected curriculum that is consistent with the total educational philosophy of the school.
- Apply learned teaching strategies in the classroom and engage in on-going professional learning communities throughout the school year.
- Work in coordination with other education teachers to design highly engaging lessons that are standard-based, according to grade level.
Programming:
- Preparing lesson plans for each group of scholars based on individually assessed needs in accordance with the school’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Using appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to instructional areas to assess student progress.
- Developing and maintaining a classroom environment that is nurturing, compassionate, embodies the light of the gospel, and provides a premier educational experience.
- Providing varied instructional techniques and media through individual and/or group sessions.
- Embedding social and emotional learning activities that establish and promote cooperative learning partnerships, executive skills, and opportunities to navigate through emotions, while building strong social skills that are based from the Word of God.
- Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Assisting in upholding the mission and vision of the school.
- Enforcing school-wide rules, administrative regulations, and church-based policies.
- i. Participation for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions that correspond to needs in the classroom or school.
Public Relations:
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees.
- Assisting in providing information to parents or community groups about school data.
- Working to establish and maintain open lines of communication with scholars and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Ensuring that each scholar in attendance of the school has necessary documentation in his/her permanent folder as well as portfolio samples.
- Evaluating scholar progress on a regular basis and providing feedback to scholars and parents.
- Supplying progress reports to school administration and to parents of scholars as necessary and requested.
- Completing documentation for scholars who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate school personnel or local school district personnel.
- Attending and participating in faculty meetings or other meetings as required.
- Other responsibilities as directed by his/her immediate supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Valid Florida Educator's Certificate in a related field or actively pursuing a valid Florida certification in teaching.
