The Packaging Operations Manager is responsible for establishing all management practices for all activities of the Packaging Department. They will ensure a safe work environment is maintained and product quality standard operating procedures are implemented and sustained. This individual supervises a large direct team of hourly and salaried personnel to ensure high speed packaging best practices for quick changeover methods, safety, quality, efficiencies, and cost. This leader will work cross-functionally with other leaders to establish a vision for Multipack to achieve world-class levels of production operations. This leader is accountable to identify and execute process improvements related to safety, quality, staffing, fill rates, and packaging accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage and direct all packaging operations staff in the consistent, efficient and predictable packaging of all company products.
Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive system and lean manufacturing program mindset and talent base to execute production plans and lessen all forms of waste.
Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices. Ensures GMP programs exceed expectations
Participates in staff, shift and safety meetings, and conducts regular departmental meetings and training based on business needs.
Create an environment of team engagement and provide management and mentorship to the packaging team members.
Develop and execute Packaging’s KPI’s while managing all issues pertinent to packaging operations.
Assist in planning and execution of required packaging with Packaging Supervisor’s to plan packaging schedules efficiently.
Maintain consistent excellent quality of packaged product. Evaluate performance of the operation, and make improvements to procedures, equipment, or work practices to elevate the quality of the packaged products.
Manage the continuous operation of process equipment through active operator management, process monitoring and troubleshooting.
Manages the training and development of SOPs and inventory system.
Provide continuous process improvement of the packaging and sanitation operations by enhancing existing procedures, developing new procedures, and recommending upgrades in equipment.
In conjunction with the Procurement, Batching, Maintenance and Quality Manager, ensure there is proper planning to execute a safe, quality and efficient production operation.
Actively mentor, coach, and hold accountable the Packaging Team as it relates to safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement and team work.
Assist Supervisor’s with regularly scheduled Performance Evaluations for team members.
Aids Supervisors in determining staffing needs to ensure all packaging lines are properly staffed.
Manage the development of safety training, job training, and cross training programs for team members.
Develop team members skills to assume greater responsibilities within the organization.

Food Safety Responsibilities
Complete food safety training and implement when needed.
Maintain quality requirements in accordance with company standards. Address any major defects or quality issues.
Housekeeping: maintain general housekeeping in all areas of production, including the break rooms and rest rooms. Remove plastic, cardboard and contaminated bottles/cans when needed; dispose of materials when needed. Keep work area clean at all times.
Ensure that all packaging equipment and the packaging area are completely 100% clean and sanitary at all times.
Required Experience

Some college in related field or 5 or more years’ experience in manufacturing, packaging environment with a history of continued development both academically and professionally.
Extensive practical experience with high-speed Canning/packaging operations in food/beverage industries preferred.
An in-depth understanding and track record of having delivered operational processes that drive safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
Proven success in managing a team, safety records and operational issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion, with proven experience in delivery against KPI’s.
Lean manufacturing experience as it relates to Packaging/Production.
Demonstrated project/idea development skills.
Solid financial aptitude and experience managing a budget.
Demonstrated experience improving employee engagement and developing high performance team to solve problems that deliver results.
Computer Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel, Google Docs/Microsoft Word, and Gmail/Outlook. Orchestra knowledge is a plus.
