Production Assistant
Location: Malden, MA
Hours: 7am to finish
Pay Rate: $19-20/hour
The Team Lead is the point person in charge of the respective production area and must possess a mastery of the day-to-day processing operations and assist the Supervisor in all aspects of daily operation. The candidate must understand, follow, and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices at all times and must have a strong working knowledge of the Quality Management System, enforcing and upholding all applicable regulatory and company guidelines.
Responsibilities of the Production Team Lead
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Quality Management System requirements and deliver high quality results.
- Manage employee schedules, breaks, tardiness, vacation, and any other absences.
- Ensure personnel safety at all times
- Review the production schedule and plan activities in advance to reduce downtime.
- Ensure the accuracy of and personnel compliance with work instructions, recipes, and/or product formulas, communicating problems as soon as they arise and making adjustments improvements as needed.
- Oversee and demonstrate advanced product and process knowledge, with regard to: leading the assembly, startup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of the production area, lines, equipment, etc.
- Hand decoration of dessert products according to specification;
- Understanding of ingredient functionality;
- Ensuring that products are properly labeled at all times, as appropriate;
- Managing ingredient and packaging inventory and ensuring proper stock rotation;
- Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful employee performance evaluations to establish expectations and paths of employee growth.
- Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, counsel, and discipline (when necessary) other team members in a manner that sustains high performance and minimizes turnover.
- Coach and develop the Assistant Team Lead to serve as the point person in charge of the production line during absences.
Requirements of the Production Team Lead
- This position requires 3-5 years of similar manufacturing experience. Dessert manufacturing is a plus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Able to work flexible hours and overtime, as required by the production schedule and company needs.
- Knowledge of regulatory and safety protocol and procedures;
- The employee must have the ability to work with milk, egg, tree nut, wheat, peanut, and soybean products, in addition to many other ingredients.
- Possess advanced math, computer, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate (written and/or oral) effectively to a bilingual staff.
