Job Summary:
Responsible for activities related to design, space planning, and specifications of contract furniture, systems products, and other interior furnishings. Coordinates and implements detailed space plans to address customer space requirements within allotted time and budget constraints. Collaborates with sales team, internal teams, and customers to interpret and produce design and specification solutions. Ability to make fit and finish selections and recommendations for customer’s work space. Coordinate and manage the design process with sales and customer. Interior Designer will be client interfacing with excellent presentation skills; including effective verbal and written communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works with OI sales team to establish client design requirements and sets milestones for the design portion of the project
Develops furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, renderings, and installation drawings
Performs field measures, product inventory, and on-site assessments to ensure project accuracy
Ensures furniture space planning is code compliant
Attends client meetings with or without sales as needed to obtain planning information and to help cultivate relationships
Manages design changes and revisions as required
Performs spec checks/audits prior to proposal
Ensures quality and consistency for design projects by following Office Interiors standards and formatting
Demonstrates excellent time management skills, flexible, ability to accommodate schedule changes and last-minute requests
Effectively and confidently handles competing priorities and urgent situations, able to make sound decisions in short timeframes and takes appropriate action
Creates specifications for clients using AutoCAD, CAP, CET Designer, proficient in gathering information from vendors, responsible for current and accurate list pricing, applying discounting, surcharges, freight, labor pricing from project managers, creating blended product solutions, able to specify COM, able to assist in specification review for other designers
Participates in dealer design training programs
Helps to train new hire designers, and manage design software technology
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design
4-6 years' experience required working with systems products of a major manufacturer
(May be a combination of education and work experience in design and furniture industry)
Specific functional knowledge of principles and theories of specialized interior design profession
Skilled in AutoCad and CAP 20/20 and other technical design programs
Effective written and verbal communication skills
