OVERVIEW:
WEI is seeking a Construction Engineering Inspector to work in the Charlotte, NC area. The Inspector will need to be flexible with work assignments and eager to learn new tasks. Duties will include roadway/structure inspection work. This technical position will support higher level technicians or engineers in areas such as construction inspection (such as bridges), material sampling and testing (such as asphalt/concrete), and construction traffic control. Position requires the performance of standardized and non-standardized tests and the assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data. Employee must be proficient in record keeping, plan reading and construction surveying. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain certifications required to perform material sampling and testing. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned. May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours as necessary. Valid driver's license is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems
· Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments
· Computer experience including office software and drafting software
Additional Information:
Experience in roadway surveying, GPS surveying, the use of sledge hammer to drive stakes, and bush axe to cut bushes. Perform minor calculations for survey notes and estimates. Employee may be required to work at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays to fulfill inspection and surveying needs. Employee may be subject to outside environmental conditions, noise, and hazards from vehicles and construction machinery. Must have a valid Class C Driver's License. Safety toe shoes required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Appointment as Trainee possible with High School Diploma and some inspection experience.
Desirable: Associate's degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
