Job Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing internships and engaging prospective volunteers in the community by administering all aspects of the organization’s volunteer program to support Advocates for Children’s program and mission. The primary duty of the Volunteer Coordinator is the recruitment, training, oversight, and retention of volunteers. This position will work closely with Human Resources, Program Managers, and the Development department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates passion for the mission of Advocates for Children and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives through active participation in related programs, training, and advocacy efforts.
- Recruits, interviews, screens, trains, and assigns volunteer staff to Advocates various departments.
- Identify, plan, coordinate and attend outreach events for the program (i.e., community events, fairs, churches and civic group speaking engagements, etc.) to engage and educate prospective volunteers on the mission and services Advocates for Children provides
- Conducts follow-up on volunteer leads and communicates with all programs of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.
- Lead volunteer orientation and training sessions
- Gathers information about each volunteer’s skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data.
- Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individual’s skills and goals.
- Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteers, interns, and personnel.
- Ensure volunteer files are complete and updated with appropriate background checks to follow state and national as required and regulated by each program standards and federal law.
- Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.
- Prepare reports on volunteer statistics and recruitment efforts.
- Coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
- Maintains volunteer opportunity announcements and events calendar listing all open volunteer opportunities for both projects and on-going needs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to PQI and attend meetings as required.
- Occasionally required to work some evenings and weekends.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field required with a minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in recruitment and volunteer services. Human Resources degree preferred.
- Must complete CASA Training for the Facilitator training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and encourage others.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Advocates standards.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor with both team members and clients.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding volunteers and clients.
- Knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
