Group Home Manager Position

JOB OVERVIEW
The Group Home Manager position is responsible for overall managerial/ administrative operational duties for a residential home of 10 boys for At-Risk youth. Our program specializes working with pre-teens and at times teenage boys in foster care.
The Group Home Manager has the responsibility for supervising, coordinating and utilizing assigned resources to achieve the program's objectives, as well as, maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for the youth in our program. The Group Home Manager, when youth are home from school, works directly with our program staff providing mentoring, guidance and recreational activities to the youth.

This position has a state requirement of a minimum of a COLLEGE Associates degree (2 yr) or Bachelors degree (4 yr), in addition to experience in Group Home Management, Case Management or Foster/ Dependency Care experience
WORK SCHEDULE
This position of Afternoon/ evening Group Home Operational Manager is generally a Monday - Friday schedule with weekends on-call for emergencies only and/or staff guidance
Daily Schedule: 12:00pm - 8:00pm
The Work schedule may at times vary when children are on summer beaks, school holiday/vacations and children’s medical appointments or other obligations may also require alterations in the Group Home Manager’s regular schedule during the week.
The Group Home Manager is asked to be on-call to respond to crisis situations that may occur either in-person or on-call in communications with direct care staff depending on the nature of the situation.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.
*Oversee work assignments to program staff in accordance with established policies/procedures and oversee the performance and implementation of those assignments.
*Coordinates and integrates programs and services including admission, discharges, and service planning for Youths in the program; including the safety and wellness-being of Youths in the program.
*Monitor and oversee appropriate procedures are being used by program staff in the delivery of service to the youth in the program.
*Ensure a safe nurturing environment for the youth in our program free of abuse, neglect and manipulation.
*Prepares performance evaluations for assigned staff.
*Facilitates training to assigned staff and conducts in-service training sessions, as requested.
Responds to on-call situations/emergencies after-hours when needed.
*Provide periodic evaluative reviews and/or training to ensure staff understands and adheres to these standards.
*Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of program reports, projects, schedules, documentation and other record keeping.
*Participates in management team meetings and other meetings, as required.
*Coordinates resolution of basic facility and/or equipment issues.
*Ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The Group Home Manager’s position has specific managerial/supervisory requirements set forth by the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF), they include:
College Requirements
A minimum of either a COLLEGE Associates degree (2 years) or Bachelors degree (4 years)
Management Experience
A minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience of direct care staff (at least 2 subordinates) working with youth in a residential child welfare setting, facility or child placement agency
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years working with youth in a residential child welfare setting, facility or child placement agency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Working with our youth includes and requires interacting with our youth including activities indoors and outdoors. Outdoor activities often scheduled with our youth include basketball, soccer, play at the park, etc.
This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs and the ability to participate in physical/outdoor activities. Also, the ability to provide physical intervention as prescribed by approved professional crisis management models to protect the youths safety is necessary at times.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
“ Important”
The managers position does include and require transporting youth in company vehicles, and at times, using personal car for company business.
For this reason, our program’s commercial auto Insurance requires a good driving record over the previous past three (3) years.
The definition of a good driving record would include no more than 2 driving violations, NO at-fault accidents, NO DUIs, NO suspended licenses within the last 3 years.
BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
Must pass Florida Level 2 background screening.
Must have a Local Law Record from local Sheriff's Department free of prohibited offenses
