Ambassador Health of Omaha is currently accepting applications for an CMA/CNA to join our dynamic health care team on the Pulmonary Specialty Care Unit.
1. Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
2. Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
3. Develop a working knowledge of the facility’s computer programs.
4. Maintain an understanding of the company’s Personnel Handbook policies and procedures.
5. Meet annual goals.
6. Participate in Performance Improvement programs and any other facility committee or program which affects the medication pass and seeks to improve the performance and accuracy of the medication process.
7. Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document routine medications.
8. Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document PRN medications.
9. Provide hydration via gastrostomy or jejunotomy tube as ordered by the attending physician, following facility policies and procedures
10. Maintain and accurately document intake of enteral nutrition as ordered by the attending physician, following facility policies and procedures
11. Ensure that medication is returned and reordered except emergency drugs.
12. Accurately measure, record, and report the vital signs of residents as it relates to medication administration.
13. Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed. Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including reason(s) for refusal.
14. Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, dated order from an attending licensed physician.
15. Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication treatment.
16. Follow the facility’s procedures allowing residents to self-administer their medications.
17. Follow established guidelines concerning the storage of drugs and biologicals.
18. Be familiar with the meaning and usage of common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to the administration of medications as used by the facility, pharmacists, and physicians,
19. Verify that any medications brought into the facility by a newly admitted resident are examined and identified.
20. Follow the labeling policies and practices of the facility.
21. Assist in documenting and removing medications that are discontinued by the attending physician.
22. Provide application of aseptic dressings per facility policies and procedures, with the exception of treatment to a decubitus or stasis ulcer of any stage. Examples of acceptable dressing changes include application to Skin Tears and Minor Wounds/scrapes/irritations.
23. Notify/report to supervising RN or LPN any change in condition, or deviation from usual routines of ADLs, immediately after occurrence.
24. Notify/report to supervising RN or LPN of medications or treatment requiring professional administration, prior to the dosing time.
25. Maintenance and monitoring of oxygenation delivery systems. Fill portable oxygen tanks for resident use, when needed. Change oxygen flow from concentrator to portable and back again as needed. Adjust oxygen flow per physician’s order.
