Eden II Programs is seeking Teacher Assistants to work in our school and preschool programs on Staten Island, NY!
This position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of curriculum and assisting in the coordination of student activities.Teacher Assistants provide instructional services to students under general supervision of a certified teacher. Requires working on a 1:1 basis with a student or with multiple students at a time. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, specifically special needs children. As a Teacher Assistant at Eden II, the applicant must be comfortable working with autistic children.
Responsibilities:
- Discuss daily with the classroom teacher regarding the progress of the educational programs.
- Implement and collect data on each student's IEP goals and behavior management plan.
- Assist students as needed during activities of daily living/gym activities. (Can vary depending on student's specific needs)
- Lead or assist in various group activities.
- Aid in development of educational material.
- Report all incidents/occurrences to Program Coordinator in the absence of the teacher.
- Assist with students with ADL skills, including diaper changing and toilet training from time to time.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Highschool diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Applicant must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, climbing up and down stairs, bending/crouching /sitting on the floor for prolonged periods of time. May require lifting up to 50lbs.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Must be a team player, caring and compassionate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.25 - $21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
