Grossmont Surgery Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled GI Nurse to join our dynamic team in providing exceptional patient care in our Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a GI Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the gastrointestinal (GI) unit, ensuring the highest standards of care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Preoperative Assessment: Conduct thorough preoperative assessments of patients scheduled for GI procedures, reviewing medical histories, medications, and any relevant diagnostic test results.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the GI procedures, addressing concerns, and providing detailed instructions for preoperative and postoperative care.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the GI team, including physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate and optimize patient care throughout the perioperative process.
- Procedural Support: Assist during GI procedures by preparing and positioning patients, monitoring vital signs, and providing support to physicians and other team members as needed.
- Postoperative Care: Monitor patients in the recovery area, assessing their postoperative condition, managing pain, and ensuring a smooth transition to the next level of care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infections and promote a safe healthcare environment.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of patient care processes and outcomes within the GI unit.
- Compliance: Stay updated on relevant regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to GI nursing and ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of CA
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in GI nursing or a related field.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
