Job Title: Registered Nurse (ER)
Job Summary: As an ER RN, you will be responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients in the emergency department. You will assess patients' conditions, prioritize treatments based on acuity, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct initial assessments of patients, including triage, vital signs, and medical history to determine the urgency of care needed.
- Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement patient care plans based on assessment findings and collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care.
- Emergency Interventions: Administer medications, perform advanced medical procedures (e.g., IV placement, wound care, CPR), and assist with emergency medical treatments as required.
- Patient Education: Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, and preventive care measures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical histories, treatments administered, and outcomes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure timely communication.
- Emergency Preparedness: Stay current with emergency protocols and participate in drills and training sessions to maintain readiness for various medical emergencies.
- Compliance: Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a current RN license.
- Experience: Previous experience in emergency nursing or critical care is often preferred.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are typically required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may also be required depending on the patient population served.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effective communication and teamwork skills.
Work Environment:
- The ER can be a high-stress environment with unpredictable patient volumes and acuity levels.
- RNs in the ER must be adaptable, calm under pressure, and able to make quick decisions in critical situations.
Physical Demands:
- The role may require prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to infectious diseases.
