Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Reports To: Medical/Clinical Director
Job Description:
The LVN is responsible for providing medical assessments, discharge plans and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the resident in coordination with the attending physician.
Education and Qualifications:
- Diploma from an accredited nursing program and a valid CA state LVN license to practice within profession is required
- Minimum of 1 year or more of experience in a substance abuse treatment facility desired.
- Current and valid Tuberculosis test results
- Current 1st aid/cpr certification
- Must have sensitivity to special circumstances of substance abuse treatment setting
- Ability to interact with staff and individuals of diverse populations required
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to be flexible and change based on resident demand and/or accreditation regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and ability to apply to practice setting.
- Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
- Must comply with drug-free workplace guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with the self-administration of medication policy to document and observe resident self-medicate
- Ensures accurate documentation of medication orders
- Keep current progress notes and log vital signs in each resident's file
- May be occasionally required for detoxification observations: Minimum 30-minute interactions and observations of each residents during at least the first 72 hours after admission. Interaction is always happening whether it’s during admissions, resident self-medication, or sharing meals.
- Observes residents, charting and reporting changes in residents' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and taking any necessary action
- Measures and records residents' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration, when required
- Evaluates health concerns and directs residents to emergency medical care when required
- Works as part of a health care team to assess resident needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions
- Reviews medication logs and consults with both resident and physician regarding refills
- Provides monitoring and supervision of residents to support non-clinical staff
- Performs breath analysis and monitors urine test samples from residents, including documenting and recording results
- Administer blood, urine, and other lab tests required under the LVN scope of practice
- Maintains compliance with HIPPA regulations and procedures.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
