Job Description:
The Engineer for Machine Performance, Simulation, and Application position is recognized as one of the best in the company within a technical specialty. This position will focus on machine performance and controls for the Large Mining Truck product group. Machine platforms to work with will include diesel mechanical and diesel electric applications for legacy machines and electrification of current and future products. You will serve as a consultant and technical expert on projects and assignments that make significant contributions relating to Caterpillar’s core technologies. Product influence expands to vehicle concepts, product line concepts, and process systems concepts. In addition to demonstrating a mastery of engineering concepts, this position will be expected to lead projects and programs to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Working as a Structural FE Analyst, your main responsibility will be conducting in-depth FE Analysis on various Mechanical component utilizing FEA techniques
- Identifying and resolving issues in current designs by leveraging expertise in Engines, structures, and FEA
- Assessing the structural soundness of components, including welds and base materials
- Conducting Non Linear Bolted Joint assessments for engine and frame mounted parts through FEA
- Utilizing advanced software such as Hypermesh, Nastran, ABAQUS, and Fe-Safe for comprehensive analysis
- Iterating on models, making necessary adjustments, and re-evaluating until meeting client specifications
- Compiling thorough analysis reports for documentation
- Collaborating with design teams on both New Product Development and enhancements to current products
