JOB IDENTIFICATION:
Job Title: Youth Basketball Instructor
Grade: I, Starting Salary $15.00/hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Department: Recreation
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Athletic and Facilities Supervisor
BASIC FUNCTION:
Demonstrate and instruct the fundamentals of the game of basketball to youth participants ages 5-10.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Implement lesson plan and drills as planned by the Athletics and Facilities supervisor
- Demonstrate knowledge of basketball and the ability to assess and assist children’s progress.
- Maintain equipment provided to participants and ensure it is being used correctly.
- Communicate any medical or behavior issues with the Athletics and Facilities supervisor
- Provide First Aid when necessary.
- Ensure the safety of all participants throughout all practices and games.
- Work in a camp setting with various ages and skill levels.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual.
- Direct participants in the event of an emergency, such as fire, severe weather
- Communicate with Athletics and Facilities supervisor regarding any equipment needing repair or replacement
- Additional duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Some high school education.
Experience:
15 years of age or older. Work permit required if 15.
Exceptional customer service attitude.
Previous experience with teaching or watching children
Strong knowledge of competitive swimming.
Certifications:
First Aid/CPR certification required.
