The Promotora is a temporary position from July 1, 024 through June 30, 2025
The annual salary for the Best Start RSN Progarm is $ 43,008 equivalent to $ 22.05 p/h based on a 37.5 hours weekly schedule.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Promotora with El Nido, you will play a pivotal role within the Best Start Communities initiative in the San Fernando Valley, funded by First 5 LA. You will be in the frontlines working directly with community. This position focuses on engaging and empowering community members, fostering strong partnerships with parents, residents, local organizations, and key community leaders. You will act as a catalyst for change, enhancing the safety, health, and wellbeing of children from prenatal to age 5 and their families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Conducts outreach to families in various meetings, community gatherings, and local events.
- Supports in manages a database to track engagement of community residents and parents involved in Best Start activities.
- Continuously updates knowledge about available services and resources for families.
- Establishes and nurtures relationships with community groups, partner organizations, neighborhood councils, and other stakeholders to bolster Best Start initiatives.
- Assists in organizing and conducting community meetings and outreach events, collaborating with partner programs and the broader community.
- Maintains accurate data and files, and assists with data collection and report preparation as required.
- Provides detailed information about the program at community workshops, school meetings, and other events.
- Participates actively in all staff meetings and training sessions.
- Performs additional duties as needed.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the nonprofit sector, specifically working with adults and families from diverse age groups, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience conducting outreach and providing community resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in group facilitation, capable of leading discussions and achieving consensus among participants.
- A high level of independence and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication abilities for delivering group presentations and conducting meetings, coupled with strong writing skills for clear and effective reporting.
- Detail-oriented and organized approach, with excellent time management skills to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Bilingual /English and Spanish with good oral and written communication skills in both languages.
- Experience with personal computers, including word processing and data entry.
- Familiarity with standard office practices and equipment.
Special Requirements
- Must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed); valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance; TB clearance, to be renewed every two years.
- Knowledge of San Fernando Valley (preferred)
