We are seeking out professional, caring, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and happy lives. Full time, part time and per diem/on call positions available in both residential and day activities programs. Employees working 30 hours or more, accrue time off benefits, insurance benefits and 401K with matching. Must be at least 18-years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Work includes assisting individuals living in a home of their own, attending their day program, going to work, social activities, developing relationships and being a part of the community.
Fundamental Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Interacting positively, actively, and respectively with Individuals.
- Ensure Individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and are supported to exercise their rights and responsibilities.
- Help and guide individuals with daily living skills.
- Provide opportunities for learning new skills and experiences by working on their individual goals and plans.
- Teaching and role modeling appropriate social behavior.
- Assist in day-to-day needs such as personal hygiene, meal preparation and transportation.
- Help to provide a safe and nurturing environment.
- Daily documentation including but not limited to incident reports, medical data, etc.
- Observe policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of persons supported.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
The Direct Care Professional’s environment may vary each day. A DSP may function within a person’s home, including cooking meals, assisting with Daily Life skills. Transport to doctor, work support or community activities. Day programs support work and after work activities, art, gardening, cooking and more.
Positions vary with extended periods of standing, sitting, walking with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, kneeling. Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weight (wheelchairs) or possibly have to safely transfer ~35 pounds
Required Paid Trainings Provided:
Employees are required to be certified in CPR/First Aid (six hours every 2 years), 21-hour Medication Certification course and exam, Physical Management Techniques (seven hours), Abuse and Neglect (three hours), etc. Training may require formalized testing. Employees are paid for all trainings. Three-day new hire orientation Monday thru Wednesday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm is required. Existing certifications may be accepted and should be brought to orientation.
