Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Dean of the College of Business and Economics, the Assistant to the Dean provides day-to-day administration in the office of the Dean. The incumbent independently performs administrative tasks by gathering, organizing, analyzing, and ensuring timely processing of relevant data and applying problem-solving techniques and skills in analyzing issues having broad administrative impact. Independently manages the Dean's calendar and provides administrative support to various committees; assists in the planning and coordinating events, making travel arrangements, and preparing travel forms. The Assistant to the Dean coordinates multiple tasks and displays a high degree of sensitivity to the needs to various diverse populations. Provides administrative support on matters pertaining to the structure of the college and department governance, committee policies, and procedures, faculty grievance procedures, and other policies and procedures as outlined in the Faculty Handbook, the University Administrative Procedures, the Appointment, Retention, Tenure and Promotion Policies and Procedures (ARTP), and the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), especially for Unit 3. The incumbent works closely with the Dean in faculty personnel matters and serves as a resource regarding regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to appointment, retention, tenure, and promotion of faculty. The incumbent establishes and enforces for the RTF/Personnel Actions Calendar, and coordinates elections.
