Responsible for construction site safety inspections on all water and wastewater utility construction projects. Inspects building structures to ascertain safety and compliance with regulations. Develops safety policies and procedures for comprehensive safety and health programs. Conducts surveys, audits, and inspections to ensure a safe environment and compliance with safety rules and standards. Conducts job safety analyses, identifies problems, and recommends corrective action.
Essential Functions
- Inspect building structures to ascertain structural soundness, safety, and compliance with regulations.
- Conducts surveys, audits, and inspections to ensure a safe environment and compliance with safety rules and standards.
- Coordinates sequencing of capital projects with Operations staff as needed to insure continuity of service.
· Conducts job safety analyses, identifies problems, and recommends corrective action.
- Coordinates inspections with engineers and contractors.
- Maintains routine inspection and progress reports for all projects.
- Notifies management of any current or pending items that could impact the successful construction of or completion of projects.
- Ensures that work performed under capital projects meets Company safety policies and procedures.
- Attends routine safety training meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Computer Skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with the ability to learn internal and job-related software programs.

- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare/submit accurate reports.

Education
Required: Associate degree, or greater, in Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Certifications/License
Requires a valid driver’s license.
Certificate in Safety & Health Fundamentals for Construction.
Preferred certification/Licenses
OSHA 30 or greater
General Contractor license
Utility licenses
Water/wastewater licenses or certifications
Experience
Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of field experience, preferably related to a combination of Safety, inspection, treatment plant operation.
Travel Required
Within the assigned geographical area of responsibility. Depending on project size can range from 3-5 days a week.
