Overview
The Mainframe Infrastructure Architect contributes to the development of the team backlog and architectural runway, management of work in process (WIP) levels, and support of engineering aspects of program and solution Kanban. Infrastructure Engineer may also participate in program increment planning, pre- and- post planning, system, and solution demos, and inspect and adapt events.
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for:
· Installing, upgrading, and maintaining 3rd party software.
· Z/OS monitoring for security bulletins
· Applying Hyper fixes
· PTF (aka Patching in the Distributed Architecture World)
· Providing internal support for Developer tools
In depth understanding of the below skills required include:
· Mainframe Z/OS installation, customization, and exit assemblies
· Job Control Language (JCL)
· Storage subsystems and management
· COBOL and other report writers
· Maintaining and processing VSAM, SAM, PDS, PDSE, HFS datasets
· CICS system level parameters and operations
· DB2 system level parameters and operations
· Workload Manager
· Understanding of authorized load libraries, parmlibs, and proclibs
· RACF Security
· ZLinux and Unix System Services configuration and operations
Essential Job Functions:
- Incident Management and resolution for Mainframe infrastructure
- Completing IBM system and 3rd party product maintenance and upgrades
- Leads and oversees physical design documents and develops/evaluates product requirements related to infrastructure
- Develops internal and external interface compatibility of systems and subsystems
- Develops and complies with service level agreements (SLAs) or organizational level agreements (OLAs)
- Coordinates and sometimes leads to the deployment and review of new, modified, or enhanced components, solutions, or services
- Documents new or modified infrastructure solutions, rest activities/results, installation instructions and other areas such as error handling
- Develops and validates capacity planning models and load-balancing/ redundancy solutions
- Assists analysts in the development of disaster recovery plans with service providers and network carriers
- Studies systems to evaluate effectiveness and scalability, and develops/enhances systems to improve production and/or workflow as required
- Ensures support of innovative efforts by driving creativity, acting with agility, and thinking outside current boundaries
- Supports and establishes systems environment standards
- Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes
- Uses technology to implement automation and orchestration
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, Mathematics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Information Sciences preferred, or equivalent experience
- Typically requires 8+ years of experience in the desired field or may have expert technical or business work experience
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $150,000.00 - $230,000.00 per year
