Established Immigration law firm seeking an immigration attorney to consult and advise individuals seeking to reside in the United States in a temporary or permanent immigration status and assist in navigating the complicated government bureaucracy involved with processing immigration cases. Essential duties and responsibilities include: analyzing complicated immigration requirements and applying them to an individual's personal situation to determine possible avenues to achieve desired immigration goals; advising and counseling immigrants, businesses and other foreign nationals regarding their eligibility for immigration benefits such as temporary visas, permanent residency, work authorization, U.S. citizenship and relief from removal; acting as a mediator between clients and immigration authorities; representing foreign nationals scheduled to appear at examinations before the local field office of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services in Norfolk; representing foreign nationals placed in removal proceedings and making personal appearances before the Immigration Court in Arlington; analyzing the immigration consequences of criminal convictions; reviewing and approving work of paralegals; and drafting and filing briefs and and other legal documents with the government. Qualifications/basic job requirements: U.S. Juris Doctorate or equivalent foreign degree and licensure by the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners. Must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish. Salary commensurate with experience.
