Lead, Shipping Operator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
- Communicate priorities and direct/monitor activities of Shipping Operators (aka Loaders) to ensure that department objectives are met.
- Provide training and other measures to ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Oversee loading activity in the shipping yard and warehouse.
- Sort and group pick tickets together and then appropriately assign.
- Operate forklift to safely load outbound shipments of finished goods onto trucks.
- Pull inventory according to pick tickets and place in staging area location, annex, inside and/or the storage yard.
- Record location of inventory and scan with RF scanner. Write the order number on the shipment and record location on the pick ticket.
- Properly load complex orders in/on a variety of shipping methods.
- Inspect shipment, dunnage boards, etc. for damage and replace if necessary.
- Can assist Traffic Clerk with signing truck drivers in and out.
- Maintain clean and orderly conditions in warehouse and loading areas using workplace organization methods (i.e., 6S).
- Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar position required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to delegate assignments, previous supervisory experience a plus.
- Crown forklift certification or ability to be trained on the job.
- Must have knowledge of how to load rail, van, flatbed, and ocean containers.
- Ability to operate RF Scanner and basic computer skills for DSI program.
- Ability to work outside in all-weather elements.
- Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
