The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing design and construction projects from inception to completion. The Senior Project Manager will manage multiple projects along with serving as a liaison between the New York City Campus Planning and Facilities office and design professionals, contractors, and campus stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible to initiate program development and project scope, develop budget estimates, schedule, track, and manage all phases of the assigned projects. The position will report to the Director of Campus Planning and Facilities.
Position Duties

Oversee annual capital projects from conception, through design, bid, construction, and post construction phases to meet objectives of scope, schedule, and cost.

Communicate and coordinate with the University community to ensure scope and budgets are aligned.

Comply with University policies and procedures on all project related activities, RFP’s, contracts and other project documents, communications, and reports.

Analyze space needs and make recommendations for effective usage.

Develop project budget estimates, manage it effectively, along with providing periodic updates and cash flow projections.

Manage project schedule to assure timely delivery.

Oversee project consultants to ensure compliance and conformance to design documents and specifications.

Ensure compliance with all applicable codes.

Effectively manage potential conflicts and risk.

Coordinate with Facilities Team and other internal departments as needed.

Apply sustainability and energy savings standards for all projects.

Coordinate staff relocations associated with capital projects.

Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications

At least 15 years of design/construction project management experience that include serving as the owner’s primary representative for capital projects.

Must have Project Management Experience managing major construction projects.

Proven experience of managing multiple projects while delivering them on budget and on schedule.

Previous experience with higher education is preferred.

Must have strong client relations skills and the ability to work well and collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and in-house interdisciplinary teams including IT, security, energy and resiliency, facilities and purchasing.

Must have the ability to work well under time and budget pressure.

Superior skills in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and construction documents.

Ability to develop budgets and schedules.

Knowledge of LEED and WELL standards, and a commitment to sustainability in construction and renovation.

Understanding local building codes and other governmental approval processes.

Excellent project planning and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills (MS Suite).
Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM with additional hours as needed.
