- Salary: $48.00 TO $58.00 DOE
- Start: Immediately
- Location: San Fernando Valley, CA
- Status: Part-time with building to full-time possibility, or full-time available if willing to work some days in Encino as well.
- Work Schedule: TBD/Flexible

Position Summary
The Educational Therapist evaluates the learning needs and potential of children and adults in the home, clinic, community and school system, develops and implements service delivery and innovative programs to enable clients to overcome their learning challenges and/or to function effectively in the classroom, with peers, in the home and the community.
As a member of the SLEA intervention and educational team, the EDUCATIONAL THERAPIST assists clients of all ages by providing individualized services in the home and clinic, contributing to school and early identification programs, as well as completing comprehensive assessments and diagnoses of learning disabilities as they impact speaking, reading and writing.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive diagnostic assessment to determine the client’s unique learning strengths and challenges and the need for Educational Therapy services
- Interprets assessment data according to state, local and federal guidelines to determine the need for service; writes comprehensive evaluation reports including appropriate goals that are aligned with medical needs, community-based or academic standards
- In school assignments, serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in IEP (Individual Education Plan) team meetings to share results and recommendations with families and educational teams
- Completes required service documentation in compliance with timelines and funding source requirements (including insurance, regional center and other educational programs)
- Plans and implements educational services as appropriate to the educational setting. Determines the appropriate service delivery model for the identified needs of each client, monitors and revises therapy recommendations as goals are achieved
- Consults and communicates with educators, agencies, related professionals and families in order to coordinate services and to integrate therapeutic activities into the home, classroom and community
- Remains current regarding technology advances and evidence-based practice for Educational Therapy; attend seminars, workshops and conferences
- Provides in-service and staff development topics relevant to the identification, service and support of clients with learning disabilities
- Works as a referral agent linking clients and families when appropriate with "outside" agencies to service their needs
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Clinicians considered for employment by SLEA Therapies must hold or be eligible for a valid California Credential in Special Education with an Autism Certification.
- Our EDUCATIONAL THERAPISTs must possess knowledge of educational assessment instruments, testing procedures, interpretation of standardized test results and the use of additional informal assessment strategies.
- Therapists must have demonstrated ability to communicate with clients, families, and other professionals, have excellent time management skills as well as strong organizational, verbal and written communications skills.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Bilingual skills are desired but not required.
