We are seeking a Director of School Safety and Emergency Preparedness to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment within the school premises while working with outside security companies.

Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required, bachelor degree preferred. (coursework in police science, criminal justice, or emergency preparedness preferred).
- Knowledge and experience in school safety and security.
- Capable of training and supervising security staff.
- Prefer a minimum of five years’ experience in the area of law enforcement and/or school (K-12) safety and security while demonstrating increasing responsibility in leadership roles. Must be Act 120 Certified or eligible.
- Possesses good human relations, communications, and motivational skills.
- Exhibits sensitivity for the varying cultural differences of school students.
- Must pass a physical.
- A criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status are required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive state-approved crisis and standard operating procedures plan.
- Develop, submit and present monthly safety updates.
- Functions as a liaison between law enforcement and District staff, as needed, with incidents of criminal activity within the District or involving District personnel or students.
- Participate in the like type group at the AIU, and when assigned participate in local and regional groups related to school safety and security or juvenile delinquency issues
- Collaborate with building administrators and security company or district security staff to alleviate physical altercations in schools.
- Actively participates in the District Threat Assessment Advisory Committee and provides follow-up for cases under consideration. Maintains and monitors the District Behavioral Threat Assessment Repository platform operations with law enforcement agencies and individual schools as needed.
- Serves as a resource to teachers, administrators, principals and other staff; facilitates group meetings to discuss program coordination; coordinates and facilitates professional development and/or training opportunities for staff.
- Provide and present school safety and security professional development activities for school leaders.
- Administers emergency preparedness, Emergency Operations Center coordination, disaster recovery, FEMA engagement including responsibilities for District implementations, reporting including storm shelter operations and National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance.
- Serve as a liaison to local, regional, and national officials for any emerging safety and security-related issues.
- Develop in conjunction with administration and security company or district security team a district school safety and security program that will include a district crisis management plan.
- Recruit, train, and manage security personnel, as needed.
- Coordinate investigation and recordkeeping of incidents of theft, vandalism, violence, substance abuse, and special situations.
- Serve as district liaison for developing and maintaining rapport and meaningful dialogue with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, other school districts, and community service and business groups.
- Provide input for discipline prevention programs.
- Organize and maintain security communication procedures.
- Order and control the distribution of safety-related supplies and equipment.
- Maintain and encourage confidentiality of information.
- Per PA Code requirement, District Safety and comprehensive plan, provide professional learning to district staff.
- Coordinate safety and security planning for athletic events and other after-school activities.
- Coordinate with Building Administrators to plan, document, and execute all mandated safety and security drills.
- Assist the Auxiliary Coordinator to ensure safety at bus stops and routes.
- Develop and oversee a program budget.
- Coordinate the maintenance of fire safety regulations with the local fire marshal and the district’s District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
- Research, apply for, and manage school-safety-related grants.
- Perform such other safety and security duties as assigned by the superintendent.
- Staying current through participation in training and conferences.
