Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Coordinator to join our team. As a Surgical Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the administrative tasks related to surgical procedures. This includes scheduling surgeries, coordinating with medical staff, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
Duties:
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate with patients, surgeons, and other medical staff
- Obtain and verify patient information, medical history, and insurance details
- Prepare and maintain surgical charts, records, and documentation
- Communicate with patients regarding pre-operative instructions and post-operative care
- Coordinate pre-operative testing and clearance as required
- Ensure all necessary authorizations and referrals are obtained prior to surgery
- Collaborate with insurance companies to obtain pre-certifications for surgical procedures
- Assist in obtaining necessary medical supplies and equipment for surgeries
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a medical office as surgical coordinator
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as eClinicalWorks or Eaglesoft is a plus
- Proficient in operating phone systems and handling patient inquiries
- Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
