JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide imaging/fluoroscopic support for surgical procedures requiring specific radiographic detail in the treatment provided to patients while in the perioperative environment.
- Must achieve completion of accredited Radiology program for operating a c-arm.
Oversees and organizes schedules and evaluates subordinate staff in specific areas or shifts in Department of Radiology. The Supervisor, during periods of short staff, may engage in performing radiology procedures. Performs other duties of subordinates as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operation of c-arm fluoro x-ray
- General maintenance and cleaning of facility as needed
- Transportation of patients
- Positions patient and selects appropriate options to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy of interest based on accepted X-Ray/fluoroscopy principles and the referring physician’s request
- Assists in maintaining the fluoroscopic image database for reference (i.e. assure all fields are entered in a systematic way on the fluoro-machine)
- Knowledge of principles of radiation safety
- Performs clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing and archiving of patient records - (Bring up prior images for physician viewing, load MRI discs, save images in Life Image, etc.)
- During fluoroscopic down time, assist in ancillary staff duties which may include rooming patients, patient call backs, obtain authorizations, answering phones, and any other duties delegated
- Inspects lead aprons for tears or damages
- Keeps the radiology binder updated which holds any records, manuals, and documents on the C-Arm operation and use. If necessary, research appropriate resources and add to binder
- Assist with renewal of radiology license for facility
- Operates and maintains equipment on a daily basis maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedules PM, performs QA, maintains records required for and participates in inspections
- Performs quality control testing in each radiographic room
- Establishes work priorities, in accordance with established daily assignments, or work assignments in response to patient load or malfunctioning equipment
- Collect dosimetry reports and review/file appropriately
- General patient care

- Maintains adequate levels of approved supplies necessary to perform radiology procedures
- Participates in evaluating quality and cost effectiveness of new or replacement supplies
- Supervises, oversees, organizes and directs work of assigned subordinates engaged in performing routine and special radiology procedures
- Trains, reviews, and evaluates work of subordinates to insure conformance to radiology procedures and safety requirements
- Gives assistance to the radiology technologists when needed
- Prepares and maintains work schedules, adjusting schedule as necessary to work out difficulties caused by illness, vacations, emergence situations, backlog of patients, examinations
- May authorize overtime work for subordinates depending on assigned shifts
- Participates in developing and administering department policies and procedures pertaining to work processes, rules, scheduling of subordinates and safety procedures
- Oversee supplies needed for fluoro and sterilization
- Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority
- Establishes work priorities, in accordance with established daily assignments, or work assignments in response to patient load or malfunctioning equipment
- Develops and maintains cooperative working relationship with physicians and patient care departments to gather and exchange information, resolve problems such as, lost radiology film, and improve services provided
License/Certification:

- Certification as a Registered Technologist – American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
