Join us as a team member and enjoy working around boats and boaters! We are looking for a dynamic individual to work the dual position of dockhand and boat detailer for our members and customers.
This position starts at $16.00 per hour and involves regular WEEKEND WORK with planned weekends off, plus additional hours during the week with the potential for tips. Opportunities for advancement are available.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Deep cleaning and detailing boats daily, weekly and monthly.
- Greet members and customers in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner.
- Drive boats between dock slips and fuel dock. FULL TRAINING on boat handling will be provided, if needed.
- Assist members in boarding / un-boarding boats with emphasis on safety.
- Check-out members using a handheld computer tablet.
- Perform equipment check on boats (Life vests, Anchor, Dock Lines, etc.).
- Check-in members returning with boats and process credit card for fuel payment.
- Familiarize yourself with local waters in order to provide basic chart guidance to members.
- Fuel boats at marina fuel dock.
- Clean boats and prepare them for the next reservation outing(s).
- Basic clerical work to prepare reservation log, fuel log and weather reports.
- Please note: weekend shifts, early evenings, late evenings, and early mornings are required – it adjusts through the seasons.
- Safe boating certification – can obtain after employed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be reliable
- Ability to safely maneuver, dock and re-fuel small powerboats. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED, IF NEEDED
- Physical ability to lift / carry up to 30 lbs.
- Physical ability to board and un-board boats dozens of times per day
- Physical ability to deep clean and detail boats. Candidate must have an eye for detail and strive for perfection
- Occasional kneeling / stooping to clean interior of boat compartments
- Vision adequate to read / manipulate handheld computer tablets in bright sunlight
- Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
- Highly effective communications skills and friendly customer service is absolutely required
- Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised

- Assist customers with docking boats
- Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality
- Use "clean as you go" method when performing your work duties.
- Adhere to all safety policies
- Maintain a cooperative, team attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees
- Maintain a positive attitude toward the dock and the job being performed
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
