Safe Haven School is looking for a creative and energetic art therapist to work with adolescents presenting with a wide range of complex emotional challenges. The primary responsibility of the art therapist is to support the student's individual educational program, using art therapy methods and interventions that promote positive social, emotional and behavioral coping strategies. This setting requires a confident, resourceful and emotionally mature art therapist with strong communication and positive interpersonal skills.
The art therapist will collaboratively work as a member of the Clinical team comprised of social workers, art therapists, and music therapist. Individual, dyad, and group art therapy services are provided to students using a choice-based, open art studio approach and relational-cultural therapeutic framework.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from an accredited program
ATR or ATR-P working to obtain ATR per Art Therapy Credentials Board
LPC, LCPC, or eligible for licensure within one year of hire preferred
An understanding of psychosocial development and trauma informed treatment as well as developmental stages of creative expression
Background in Art Education not required but beneficial
Knowledge of working with LGBTQ+ students
Strong group facilitation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically as a member of an interdisciplinary team
