The Virtuous Woman, Inc. is a nonprofit mental health agency which addresses runaways, homelessness, human sex trafficking, domestic violence and foster care and provides a specialized recovery home, formally known as group home, Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP), for victims of human sex trafficking, Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC), and emotionally disturbed children ages12-18 years old.

Compensation
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Role Summary
The psychiatrist's primary responsibility is to deliver direct clinical services to children and their families while collaborating with inter and intra-agency treatment team members. This includes conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments, accurately documenting diagnoses, prescribing medication as necessary, managing medication regimen, ensuring the medical necessity of provided services, coordinating services across various systems, and maintaining comprehensive and accurate client records of all psychiatric services rendered and attempted.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform psychiatric evaluations and screenings for Medi-Cal clients.
· Consult with therapists, care coordinators, and other staff regarding client care.
· Offer medication support services, including evaluating the need for psychotropic medications, prescribing them, and monitoring their effects.
· Order, obtain, review, and monitor pertinent laboratory tests.
· Communicate patient information with relevant third parties, such as attorneys, judges, and family members, following appropriate release of information or court order.
· Document mental health services according to DMH standards, completing all progress notes and required documentation within agency policy timelines, including making corrections promptly.
· Coordinate the completion of Client Treatment Plans (CTP) or equivalent goals for psychiatric services provided, renewing goals annually in collaboration with therapists.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
· Completion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in psychiatry or equivalent training.
· Psychiatrists are required to be licensed in CA.
· Board Certified or Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
· Valid and unrestricted DEA in the United States.
· Required to be well-versed in telemedicine technologies and EHR programs for inputting documentation.
· Clearance from SAM.gov
· Clearance from background investigation through CA Department of Justice including state, local, and federal-level review which may include criminal conviction information (Fingerprinting).
· Professional Liability Insurance or Malpractice coverage (Insurance Coverage Requirements: Professional Liability - $1M per occurrence/$3M aggregate.
· Experience working with high-risk children, adolescents, and/or families within the Mental Health, Educational, and/or Child Welfare systems preferred.
· Knowledge or experience with LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH) billing and documentation procedures preferred.

Physical Requirements
Physical demands include continual sitting, typing, and repetitive computer use for up to 8 hours a day. The position also requires frequent communication with others, including hearing and speaking clearly with individuals and groups, in person and via phone and video calls. Ability to lift 15 pounds at times. Occasional regional travel (20%) required. These requirements are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job’s essential functions.
