Global Language Center (GLC) has been working with the State Department for the last 13 years providing foreign language training for new and continuing Foreign Service Officers, Diplomats and Ambassadors.
GLC is is seeking a skilled Climate Instructor to join our dedicated team, providing expert guidance and training on climate issues, climate tradecraft, and environmental technology and health to support the Economic and Commercial Division (ECON) at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI). This role is pivotal in enhancing the capabilities of the foreign service personnel, preparing them to tackle global environmental challenges through informed policy and innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications : Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Climate Science, or a related field is preferred.
A Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
Proven background in teaching or training adult learners, with a capability to explain complex subjects clearly and engagingly.
Strong foundational knowledge in ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field.
Relevant experience in climate science, foreign policy related to environmental issues, or involvement in green technology initiatives.
Previous roles in Think Tanks, Green Technology Sectors, or Environmental Startups are highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities : Act as the subject matter expert and coordinator for the development of a climate-related training program. This involves assisting with developing relevant curriculum using existing workshop and training materials, aligned with FSI's identified training needs.
Deliver this course to foreign affairs professionals responsible for advancing U.S. climate policy. Additionally, assess course delivery and offer recommendations for future courses and related curriculum enhancements.
Manage and coordinate various resources essential for the climate portfolio's facilitation. These resources may include both internal and external stakeholders, subject matter experts, and potential contractors involved in the production of climate-related training materials as the climate portfolio evolves.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, prioritize, and competently manage a variety of activities with multiple deadlines.

Familiarity with and the ability to use computer and related technologies such as word and excel.
Lead and oversee the creation of course materials for an in-person training program.
Address inquiries regarding climate training from within FSI and the department.
Conduct research to update and refine training materials and course content, drawing from existing training offerings.
Foster and maintain professional relationships across FSI, the Department, and other governmental agencies to serve as valuable resources for the courses.
Possess an expert-level understanding of environmental, scientific, energy, and climate issues, along with the U.S. government's role in these areas.
Demonstrate a proven track record in managing complex projects and initiatives that involve collaboration with multiple partners over an extended timeframe.
