Job Description:
We have an opening for a skilled Class A Auto Mechanic. Applicant must be a well-rounded individual who is willing to work in a productive, team-oriented, collaborative environment. Required skills include the ability to diagnose, maintain and repair vehicles. The applicant must identify immediate needed vehicle repairs as well as mechanical issues that could become problematic. Excellent communication skills are needed to effectively explain to customers the mechanical issues and recommended preventive vehicle care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
- Perform thorough NYS inspections and maintain Class A certifications
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
- Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues
- Provide accurate estimates (time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
- Keep logs on work and issues
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
Requirements:
- Proven experience as auto mechanic
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools, heavy equipment and be able to regularly lift 80lbs
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
- High school diploma is required; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred or adequate experience
- Must possess their own basic tools for repairing and diagnosing vehicles
- Certifications in A1-A9 ASE, section 609 for refrigerant handling, New York State Inspectors license and valid drivers license
