Driver- Heavy Equipment
Location: Macon G, A
Schedule: 7:00am - 4:30pm
Projected Salary: $24.00- $28.00
Reports to: V.P of Rental, Transportation and Billing
Position Purpose-
Contribute to making Southern States TOYOTAlift a leader in the material handling industry by acting as the Industrial Equipment Delivery Professional who builds rapport with customers; delivering and picking up material handling equipment, parts and supplies; promoting safety initiatives; operating trucks for pickup and delivery of equipment; maintaining relationships with clients by delivering the Toyota Customer Delivery Experience; promoting our service and products in a professional manner; maintaining professional and technical knowledge; contributing to a team effort. This position will also maintain DOT and customer paperwork to SST standards and maintain a professional image for Southern States TOYOTAlift.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities-
- Delivering and picking up of material handling equipment while meeting customer and company expectations
- Placing primary importance on delivering superior customer service
- Promoting safety initiatives and operating trucks while meeting SST, DOT, and state safety guidelines
- Maintaining driver logs and other required DOT paperwork
- Completing DOT physicals, when requested, in addition to all requirements necessary to maintain DOT compliance
- Obtaining all necessary signatures and receipts for all documentation
- Ensuring all customer paperwork is included with the delivery (i.e. operator’s manual, other required documents)
- Inspecting the condition of rental units upon pick up and obtaining customers’ signature
- Adhering to scheduling and attendance requirements
- Conducting a visual inspection of materials picked up and delivered in accordance with SST standards
- Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
- Changing forklift LP tanks
- Demonstrating flexibility by adjusting readily to changing priorities
- Advocating company values, mission, vision, and code of conduct
- Adhering to all required safety practices and diligently maintaining alertness
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal guidance or supervision
Qualifications-
- CDL Class A required
- Proven safe driven record and valid driver’s license required
- Ability to pass a DOT Physical required
- Ability to occasionally lift 100 pounds required
- Basic aptitude with computer technology, ELD, and tablet/laptop required
Education and Experience-
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience required
- Experience with tractor & trailer, and roll-back trucks required
- Experience with a wide variety of material handling equipment preferred
- Delivery of Material Handling Equipment preferred

Nature and ScopePosition reports to the Transportation Manager with accountability to the Branch Operations Manager, Branch Manager, and Vice President of Rental, Leasing, and Transportation.
Environmental Job RequirementsTravel will be by car and will require prolonged periods of sitting and driving in light to heavy traffic. At times, this position will require travel to other branches in Florida and Georgia.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noisier shop environments and may be exposed to unusually noisy environments at customer sites. When performing duties of this job, it is a requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever appropriate.
Physical Job RequirementsEmployee must occasionally lift and/or move machinery parts weighing up to 50 lbs. at waist level a distance of 15 feet or more. Lifting requirements: Up to 10 pounds 100%; Up to 25 pounds 100%; Up to 50 pounds 50% (Must require back support); Up to 75 pounds 35%; Up to 100 pounds 5%; More than 100 pounds 0%Prolonged standing, squatting, bending, or kneeling in one place or position while loading or working equipment – 80%. Sitting, lying, and leaning on the floor or ground to reach or see a specific component of a piece of equipment – 20%. Kneeling on one or both knees may be necessary – 50%. Crawling on both knees to reach something, twisting at the waist to either side to grab a hand tool, squatting at ground level and balancing on the balls of your feet while stretching up to reach a part of the equipment – 50%. Reaching overhead while moving weight up to 20 lbs. horizontally or vertically from a standing position. Reaching forward to grab, twist, push, or pull a component connected to a lift truck and replacing it with another and exerting up to maximum pressure when removing or connecting the part – 100%.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position will require travel to other branches and customer locations in Florida and/or Georgia. Travel will require prolonged periods of sitting and driving in light to heavy traffic.
