Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. currently has an opening for an Assistant Manager at our location in Knoxville, IA. This position is responsible for assisting the General Manager with the effective management and profitable operation of the Knoxville store using process improvement techniques to continually drive improvements in sales, quality, delivery, cost and service.
Responsibilities:
- Understands the needs of the customers and positions the company to profitably meet mutual needs of customer and company. Provides excellent customer service to stakeholder groups by addressing issues, questions or concerns in a timely manner. Builds long lasting relationships with customers.
- Helps contractors with their building projects including designs, estimating material, setting up scheduled deliveries, and assisting throughout the building process.
- Responds to and maintains positive employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation and morale. Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals when they arise. Motivates coaches and mentors employees to build effective teams.
- Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
- Receives payment for merchandise or services sold and enters sale into the computer. Responsible for payments received and adhering to all administrative and accounting related procedures.
- Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards. Leads by example. Creates and enforces a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Responsible for maintaining safe working environments and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations; coordinate closely with the safety team.
- Execute sales effort in an ethical and professional manner that will reflect favorably on the reputation of both the salesperson and the company.
- Qualifications:
- This position requires excellent management, operational and relationship building skills coupled with a passion for excellent service.
- Previous building materials, construction, or sales experience is preferred but will train the person with the right attitude, teamwork and desire to increase responsibility.
- Excellent people skills and strong potential for strong leadership development.
- Able to learn quickly and work independently.
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office and email.
