Emergent Risk International (ERI) is seeking to hire a full-time Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Analyst to be embedded with one of our multinational clients. Candidates for this early-career role will have an analytical and data-driven mindset, desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a focus on global threat intelligence analysis and corporate security investigations.
US West: The preferred chosen candidate will work onsite at the client’s office in Sunnyvale, CA. ERI has been granted the alternative option to staff this position remotely. Superiorly qualified candidates resident within the US Pacific Time Zone will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

ERI operates five lines of business:
● Assessment and Analysis: We provide our clients daily, subscription-based and bespoke geopolitical and threat intelligence services.
● Training: We train intelligence analysts to serve effectively in corporate environments. Our training focuses on tradecraft and tools that drive more efficient and effective analysis. We offer a range of in-house and open training courses to address specific levels of experience and need.
● Online Platform: We offer a subscription-based online portal that provides a workspace environment for security intelligence analysts, combining ERI’s expert analysis with hundreds of curated datasets and our suite of data visualization tools.
● Consulting: We help companies develop and improve their intelligence programs, providing end-to-end support; from assessing needs and providing analysis to recruiting and hiring highly qualified candidates.
● Embedded Analyst Services: We support our clients with embedded analysts, full- and part-time, short- and long-term. Our embedded analysts work directly for our clients, allowing them the benefit of employing intelligence professionals trained to ERI’s strict standards of competency and continually professionally developed by ERI’s senior leadership, armed with access to ERI’s proprietary tools and deep backbench of in-house subject matter experts.
The Position:
The Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Analyst role requires an individual with a passion for geopolitics, security intelligence and investigations and a desire to learn and grow. Experience in intelligence, threat monitoring, business writing, law enforcement investigations or journalism is preferred. The individual will have a sense of urgency around monitoring global events and develop a keen awareness and sound judgment regarding the types of events - geographically and from a business perspective - are of actual importance to our client.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Conduct research and provide forward-looking analysis on geopolitical and private sector business resilience, political, supply chain, ESG and security related risk.
· Develop an expert understanding of the client’s business model and asset locations, ensuring that all intelligence and reporting is tailored to the client’s specific needs.
· Support due diligence and investigative research to include M&A evaluation of potential business partners and other individuals and entities with which client has a business interest.
· Conduct event and travel risk assessments and crisis response.
· Carry out social media monitoring.
· Provide short notice briefings during high stress, rapidly developing, crisis situations.
· Develop and maintain a network of contacts in the private sector, government and other relevant sectors.
· Understand, interrogate, and visualize high-quality data to draw analytic conclusions and add additional context to analysis and reporting.
· Take part in trainings and other ERI initiatives as appropriate.
· Administrative tasks as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
· Minimum two years' experience with a global threat monitoring team, executive protection, law enforcement investigations, a newsroom or equivalent experience preferred.
· Superior English language writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
· Superior research/OSINT skills.
· Quick thinking and response time during crisis events.
· Professional demeanor / Positive attitude.
· Demonstrated team player.
· Ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and prioritize accordingly.
· A strong commitment to ethical private-sector intelligence practices.
· The ability to maintain confidentiality around security-specific information.
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening and locally compliant reference checks.
Working Hours: Role is a standard, salaried business hours position. As with any role in the security field, some after-hours or weekend work may be required in moments of crisis.
Remuneration: This role will be a full-time (40 hours per week) salaried position. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
