Description:The Inn at Century House is looking for a breakfast attendant to fill an immediate opening in Latham, NY. The qualified breakfast attendant is dependable, detail-oriented, and has excellent customer service skills. They ensure efficient breakfast service, which helps create a lasting impression on guests, leaving them eager to return and tell others about their experience. Available hours are 5 am to 12:00 noon, Thursday through Sunday, but may vary. We promise the right candidate a fun, safe, positive atmosphere.

Breakfast preparation, setup, and organization
- Assists chef as needed with preparation and breakfast setup.
- Ensures that all food and beverages served in the assigned section are of acceptable quality.
- Advises chef of food quality or preparation time deficiencies.
- Advises supervisor of food quality or preparation time deficiencies.
- Keeps assigned areas clean and neat.
- Verifies that food is correct and attractive.
- Performs the required setup and assigned side work.
- Verifies guest room and keeps count of daily guests served
- Keeps stock of supplies at each service station full, fresh, and clean.
- Prepares coffee, tea, and juices and fills ice containers as required.
- Records breakfast totals and convey guest feedback.
- Informs the front desk of any additional charges incurred by guests during breakfast.
- Advises chef and hotel manager of any problems that could affect customer satisfaction.
Guest Service
- Offers a beverage to each customer after the initial greeting.
- Serves each customer in a warm and gracious manner.
- Assists other breakfast staff as required to ensure that all customers are well-served.
- Handles difficult customers with tact and courtesy and notifies the chef and hotel manager of such behaviors.
- Assists with training new employees as requested.
- Cleans and resets tables.
- Ensures features of the main menu are understood.
- Maintains awareness of details of breakfast menu and recommends selections to customers.
Cleanup
- Performs any appropriate clean-up duties during slow periods.
- Removes dishes from tables as customers finish each course.
- Performs end-of-shift clean-up duties as required.
- Uses cleaning supplies appropriately to provide fresh, sanitized surface areas.
- Cleans spills immediately in kitchen and dining room areas.
- Sorts, scrapes, and stacks plates, removes dirty bus tubs and replaces with new ones before they are full.
- Pushes in and straightens up chairs and tables.

Requirements:SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, AND EXPERIENCE
- Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
