Education Assistant provides supportive services for College Education Services to individuals with developmental disabilities using the person centered planning approach. Includes: In class intervention tutorials, out of class tutorials, subject matter review and supports, Personal Care Services as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required:
A.A./A.S. Degree, or current student within the college site with 30 units or more.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Willingness to accept work direction from others.
Professional English writing ability, including usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Ability to file records.
Proficient use of basic office equipment, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Immediate access to a vehicle, and proof of current driver’s license and car insurance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide College Education Services support, supervision and instruction to consumers at college sites.
Meet the standards specific to independent college sites, including dress code and work quality requirements, as deemed necessary by
Program Manager.
Attend all required meetings and in-services.
Provide motivation to participants.
Ensure consumers receive weekly tutorials from staff.
Model ethical behavior at all times.
Complete all required documentation and reports per agency procedures.
Assist in maintaining participants’ files and records.
Provide personal care assistance, in class tutorials, out of class tutorials, in class supports and out of class supports as needed per individual need.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Complies with safety practices as detailed SCRS-IL Policies and
Procedures
Provides effective instruction to consumers in order to achieve their
ISP goals and objectives.
Provides instruction to consumers at co l l e ge s ites in the manner most effective to the consumers, including: demonstration, verbal and non-verbal cues, and visual aids.
Ensures that the consumers’ class schedules are carefully followed and documented and that consumers receive evaluations from professors.
Meets all safety standards established by SCRS-IL, including safety drills and procedures with wheelchairs.
Meets college site dress code standards.
Engages actively with consumers at co l l e ge sites to ensure that the consumers are sufficiently served so as to meet classroom quality requirements.
Attends all mandatory meetings, including: staff meetings, all-staff meetings, scheduled trainings, and meetings with managers.
Maintains professional boundaries with participants and co-workers.
Collects and records data during each c lass sess ion to consumers degree path on progress toward achievement of consumer goals and objectives.
Records all other relevant information in progress notes.
Maintains consumer confidentiality with parents/caregivers and employees.
Shares consumer information with other SCRS-IL staff in a professional manner.
Maintains professional relationship with parents/caregivers.
Follows SCRS-IL policies and procedures on employee attendance and tardiness.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
