JOB TITLE: Controls Engineer

REPORTS TO: Senior Controls Engineer
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for helping with designing, implementing, integrating, maintaining, and optimizing all USBP’s automated technologies that control, monitor, and support the manufacturing process, packaging, and associated utilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
· Design and amend PLC ladder logic using Studio 5000, RSLogix 500 and 5000.
· Utilize proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to perform root cause analysis on downtime issues.
· Employ strategies to eliminate process and packaging downtime by implementing engineering improvements.
· Design HMI and SCADA using FactoryTalk View ME / SE, and Ignition.
· Design and create interlock diagrams and update as changes are made to programming.
· Implement and improve PLC integration plant-wide.
· Work with contractors both remotely and at plant sites to facilitate project or program work.
· Assist maintenance in troubleshooting and resolving issues with all plant machines and process.
· Train operators and leaders on machine function and troubleshooting.
· Read, understand, and update schematics including (but not limited to): P&ID, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, manuals, and ladder logic.
· Use electrical diagnostic equipment to diagnose, repair, relocate, or add electrical sensors, including (but not limited to): Photoeyes, proximity switches, temperature probes, pressure sensors, and mass flow meters.
· Troubleshoot plant networking issues where necessary.
· Monitor, troubleshoot, and modify parameters to robotics, motors, VFDs, remote I/O.
· Diagnose and fix vision, x-ray, and other inspection systems.
· Participate in meetings, reviews, and other coordination activities to ensure effective integration into the team and execution of the work.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience, education, and training that meet minimum requirements.
·2+ years of experience with PLC programs and ladder logic
· 2+ years of experience with programming HMI components or SCADA design
· 2+ years of experience with Motor Controls and VFDs
· 2+ years of experience with Robotics system components and controls
· Demonstrates high competency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
· Experienced in use of hand tools, digital multimeters, amp probes, and other diagnostic tools
· Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Processes project management and time management skills.
· Ability to train others
