Job Description:
The Welding Inspector is a member of the Quality Control team who is responsible for maintaining the effectiveness of the company Quality Control programs to the highest possible degree of Quality. The QC Inspector for Welding oversees all aspects of Quality in-process products as well as in final products, all material to be inspected at the Welding area. Assists Supervisors, fitters and QC department in Investigating Customers Claims regarding Welding and Painting departments.
Responsibilities
Include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Performs 100% Visual Inspection of Welds in Final Structural Steel Elements
- Reports Directly to Welding Supervisor about any Quality Deficiencies in Final Parts
- Tracks the Quality Deficiencies per Weld
- Reports Directly to Senior QC Manager about mistakes or welding problems and Tracks the Daily Information
- Perform inspection of welds
- Ensures Supervisors and Employees understand and adhere the Quality Control Program
- Receives Instructions from Senior QC Manager about Project Specific Inspection and Test and Perform those tasks
- Monitor shop Activities to ensure conformance with applicable Buildings Codes, Standards, Policies, Procedures, Drawings Specifications and MTR’s
- Manage and Conduct Audits at Welding and Paint Departments
- Perform inspections on projects requiring expertise and knowledge under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Manager
- Maintains Equipment operation and Calibration
- Assists the Senior Quality Control Manager with Welders Qualifications
Qualifications
- Must have the ability to multi-task in a manufacturing environment to meet production demands
- Experience with Evaluation related to Quality and Codes issues
- Proficient in the use of Inspection Tools and Measuring Equipment such as Tape Measure, Square, and Micrometer
- Experience as a Welding Inspector or as a Qualified Welder
- Certified as a Welding Inspector is a plus
- Experience in FCAW process
- Experience in Structural Steel Inspection using AWS D1.1 Welding Code and CWB
- Ability to Work well in a Team oriented environment
Requirements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) speaking and writing is a plus
