E8 Engineering is a staffing company providing contract expertise to established Aerospace and Defence contractors. Our customer is seeking a Project Manager with 5-9 years of experience for a prestigious program. This is a 6-month contract position, with an estimated start date and end date of 6/11/2024. An extension is possible
Assignment Location: Decatur, Alabama, 35601-7586 All applicants must be willing to commute or relocate at their own expense.
Onsite: Remote is NOT an option for this role.
Estimated Hours Per Week: 40 hours/week. Up to 10 hours of overtime is possible.
Job Description:
Responsible for managing a technical development project over its lifecycle, from initiation through closure. This includes project planning, execution and monitoring, and achieving the objectives of the project to enable project closure. The project management specialist assembles and organizes the project team, assigns responsibilities, identifies and obtains appropriate resources (including skilled personnel, tools, facilities and budget), and develops and maintains a schedule to ensure timely completion of the project. The project management specialist charters the project by defining the system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member. He/she effectively coordinates, collaborates and informs all stakeholders affected by and interested in the project outcome, including end-users, distributors, suppliers, and others within the value stream. The project management specialist ensures adherence to quality standards and systems engineering processes, and attainment of project deliverables by managing risks, issues, and opportunities identified during planning and execution. Responsibilities also include conducting After Action Reviews to reflect on the project approach and results, and documenting lessons learned to share with other project managers.

- Adheres to quality standards and systems engineering processes, and attainment of project deliverables by managing risks, issues, and opportunities identified during planning and execution
- Conducts After Action Reviews to reflect on the project approach and results, and documenting lessons learned to share with other project managers
- Establish Identifies, Executes, and Implements Continuous Improvement Opportunities
- Works with stakeholders (production, finance, industrial engineers, tool design, etc) to ensure all project requirements are identified and achieve
Required Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5-9 years of experience.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field
Exposure to manufacturing techniques and assemblies
Proficient in troubleshooting problems and arriving at a solution in a timely manner
Attention to detail and good documentation of observations/findings Safety Oriented
Strong and effective communicator
Strong leadership skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
This position will require working extended hours and /or weekends along with off shifts, as necessary to support testing and production delivery activities.
Ability to work at elevated heights and small spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of reading Blueprints
Proficient skills in Earned Value Management is highly desired
Highly desired Project Management Professional experience
Establish CI vision for the organization and partners with key leaders and individuals to execute vision
Responsible for resolving complex problems utilizing Six Sigma Methodology using Green Belt and Black Belt methodology
Demonstrated success in improving efficiency of complex processes and/or project management
Previous experience working in an aerospace company
Ability to think strategically
