Mills Park Hotel and Ellie’s Restaurant are seeking an experienced and dynamic Kitchen Manager to oversee all food-related activities for the standard operation of Ellie’s Restaurant and special events hosted at Mills Park Hotel. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for kitchen staff management, inventory control, menu creation/execution as needed, food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness and presentation. This individual will lead a team of culinary professionals to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and train back of house staff to ensure efficient operations and maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Oversee food preparation and plating techniques to ensure that all dishes are prepared and served according to company standards
- Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to immediately document and report repairs and maintenance issues.
- Collaborate with Events management to plan and execute special events, including weddings, corporate gatherings, and private parties, by creating customized menus and coordinating with event planners.
- Oversee food preparation for private event rentals at Mills Park Hotel and off-site catering as needed, ensuring that each menu is executed flawlessly and meets the specific requirements of the client.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and professional development among kitchen staff.
- Implement quality control measures to uphold the integrity of each dish served, ensuring that presentation, taste, and portion sizes meet or exceed guest expectations.
- Uphold Temperature checks of all hot and cold holding equipment with a checklist.
- Manage kitchen staff scheduling to optimize productivity and labor costs while maintaining adequate coverage for both standard restaurant operations and special events.
- Maintain inventory levels of fresh ingredients and culinary supplies, conducting regular inspections to ensure freshness and quality.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and food costing to maximize profitability while minimizing waste.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to communicate expectations, provide feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and ingredients to continually innovate and enhance the dining experience.
These additional responsibilities ensure that the Kitchen Manager oversees all aspects of food service, including presentation, quality control, and staffing, for both Ellie’s Restaurant and private event and catering opportunities with Mills Park Hotel.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager or in a similar leadership role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Preferred, but not required, ServSafe Level II Certification or comparable.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and mentor kitchen staff.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Creative hospitality vision with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the hospitality industry.
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.
Hours and Wages:
- Anticipated hours: Full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Competitive wages: The salary range for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, with consideration given to prevailing wages for similar positions in Ohio's hospitality industry.
Expected initial salary range: $38,000 - $52,000
