Job Title: Career Advisor and Special Projects
Department: Training Fund
Reports To: Manager, Manhattan Operations
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Training Operations provides one-on-one employment counseling including resume support, career plan development, ongoing guidance and engagement through all phases of career and academic growth as well as works on Special Projects throughout the organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Help create business processes for career advisor activities/reporting

Provide members with opportunity to schedule appointments and/or allow walk-ins as a means for career advisement.

Conduct initial strengths assessments

Provide ongoing engagement and support
-
Advising for Career Track selection, progress and completion
-
Assist program participants with career plans, resumes, and interview skills
-
Lead Career Service workshops in person and remote
-
Recognize special needs of various groups and adapt services to meet their needs

Demonstrate good organization skills, positive interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills

Understand career development theories, models, and techniques as they apply to lifelong development, gender, age, and ethnic background

Create Career Service engagement events *

Maintain complete and accurate case files to document member progress

Develop relationships with higher education institutions that cater to working adults
-
Arrange tours/field trips for members to Commercial/Residential facilities when requested

Ensure all members have a mock-interview before interviewing for a position

Attend meetings, conferences and seminars regarding career trends in the Building Services Industry

Understand labor market and occupational information and trends. Be able to use current resources.

Assist with Union member meetings *

Answer phones when needed

Assist with pressing deadlines on various office projects when short-staffed

CISCO Login: at the direction of your supervisor, ensure that you are logged into the CISCO system throughout each work day and use codes effectively.

CISCO Ready State: Place yourself in "ready state" during periods assigned by your supervisor and willingly accept and complete member calls.

CISCO Scorecard: Maintain an acceptable rating on all areas of quality monitoring scorecard.

Qualifications and Core Competencies:

Prior experience in MS Office Suite.

2 years office experience preferred
Technical Skills:

Prior resume writing and interview skills experience. *

Experience leading remote workshops

Career Coaching
