We are searching for a talented Medical Assistant to join our new practice at Beacon Dermatology in Asheville, NC. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a private practice setting and able to rapidly learn new skills. We have a new dermatology practice that involves medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology so multitasking is critical. You will manage patients through their appointments and assist the dermatologist during patient visits. Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Assisting in phototherapy treatment would be a primary responsibility in this role
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Assist during dermatology examinations
- Assist in dermatology procedures, including surgeries, cosmetic treatments and other dermatology procedures
- Providing verbal and written correspondence to patients via phone and portal system
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
- Assist in inventory ordering and maintaining medical supply levels
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
Skills
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids
- Ability to educate and clearly communicate with patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
- Analytical ability and critical thinking to gather and interpret data and develop, recommend, and implement solutions

Education & Experience
- High school diploma plus either completion of a college degree or a Medical Assistant program required
- Medical assistant certification is preferred
- 1-2 years of prior experience in a dermatology or cosmetic / surgical clinic setting working as a medical assistant or clinical assistant preferred
