Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will play a vital role in the efficient functioning of the Primary Care Health and Wellness Clinic. This position requires both medical assisting skills and a Phlebotomy certification, ensuring the successful delivery of patient care, administrative support, and clinical assistance. The CMA will work closely with healthcare professionals, patients, and other staff members to maintain a high standard of care and contribute to the overall well-being of the clinic's patients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and ensure a warm, welcoming environment.
- Assist patients with preliminary medical history, vital sign measurement, and data entry into electronic health records.
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect blood samples for diagnostic tests.
- Under direct supervision of a physician or clinician, administer medications or injections.
- Instruct patients on specific procedures, medication usage, and post-care instructions.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are well-stocked and sanitized.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
- Conduct basic diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, vision screenings, and urinalysis.
- Document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Schedule patient appointments, manage phone calls, and coordinate patient flow.
- Handle patient registration, insurance verification, and medical record management.
- Process billing and insurance claims as required.
- Maintain clinic supplies and place orders when necessary.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with other medical staff and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their concerns and questions with empathy and professionalism.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
· Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from California.
· Active Phlebotomy Certification in (CPT1) accordance with California state requirements.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous experience as a medical assistant in a primary care setting is preferred.
· Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
· Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Promote wellness products, supplements, and services available at the clinic.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and basic pharmacology.
